Keyfob

does anyone know how to tell if a keyfob works for ur car i bought mine used so idk but i heard it has somethin to do with VIN's does any1 know how to tell

If its not the original one for your car, you would have to take it to the dealer and get it programmed to your car.

Pretty sure that the place that programs it could tell you that before they charged you $49 for the reprogram.

Ok, so what you're saying is all you want to find out rite now is if your car came with keyless from the factory. Theres a thread that I think is in the off topic forum, where someone has access to gm records and is providing info based on vin #'s.


Also, even if your car didn't have it from the factory, its not a complicated modification to add, as long as you already have power locks. But it will cost a little bit extra if your car was not equipped with keyless from the factory, which I can now see is what you are asking.

from what I can remember there is a button combination you press on the fob after turning on your car... I've never done it and maybe I'm getting other models confused, but I think that's how it goes.

another thing to check is to make sure the 3 metal contacts on the battery holder are firmly soldered to the circuit board.

our keyfobs are notorious for having those break loose.
