Sunroof switch removal from headliner

Hello all.

I've got a 2003 Alero Coupe. My sunroof recently stopped working. It's stuck in the closed position. I haven't got around to diagnosing the problem yet, but after I check the fuse, i want to try to test the switch with a voltmeter.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to remove the switch from the headliner. Does it just pop out with a bit of prying? Does the headliner have to come down first? I'd rather not mangle the switch by prying on it blindly if possible.

Thanks for any insight!

It does pop out but there are two small springs that control the switch to keep it from just randomly opening.... be careful if you try!

Thanks!

Are the springs sealed inside the switch or are they going to pop out when I separate the switch from the headliner?

I was just in the car a few minutes ago, and it seems to be working again. I'm not sure if I should trust it though so I’ll still investigate further.

It's a two piece switch but it's loosely held together.... if you pull or pry the wrong way you'll separate the switch and the springs will fly!
Like I said take your time and you should be fine
