Okay..here's my dilemma:
I want to possibly get nitrous. I would only get probably a 30 shot (MAAAAAAAYBE a lil more) but UNDER 100 for sure..30 sounds great to me. I have a CAI, Dual Exhaust and thats about it. I was wondering if putting a NO2 system on this basically stock motor would hurt it. What ALL would I need to do to the motor b4 putting this NO2 on? Please let me know!!

if you get a wet kit all you need will be included
a bottle heater is nto a bad idea but other than that you should be set

all that u NEED to have is basically a CAI, and colder spark plugs.

Get a wet kit, i used to have a dry setup, and it wasn't badd, but if u buy a dry setup, be ready to sell it and get a wet kit within 6 months LOL

and our cars can handle alot more than a 30 shot.

I'm currently runnin a 75 most of the time, and i plan to make a few passes at the track with a 100 shot :thumbsup:

Thanks guys...nitrous is sounding like a very good possibility for me now :thumbsup: What kind of risks would I run into w/ a 50 shot (i know the alero can handle more, i just dont WANT any more than a 50) What would also "help" my motor (other bolt on's...parts..anything)..If i get a nitrous setup i want it to be 100% safe and work perfectly. Feel free to let me know of ANY little things I might need to do here and that (like the above-mentioned spark plugs)

theres really no other bolt ons that would help the motor.

It would be a good idea to get a couplea gauges. If ur usin a dry kit i'd suggest fuel pressure, a/f ratio, and nitrous pressure gauges on ur a-pillar so you can constantly monitor them.

and the recommended spark plugs are NGK TR6 plugs p/n 4177

I know the wet kit is better, but how does the dry compare...REMEMBER! I only want like a 30-50 HP shot...is dry any more harmful??

dry would require more mods to run safely.
you can ask SC alero for his take on dry nitrous and ask for pics of his pistons.
he was only runing a 55 dry to cause damage.

anyway. what nitrous does is allow you to burn more fuel.
a wet kit also gives you the extra fuel.
basically a dry kit would be like getting a turbo or supercharger and not doing anything for fuel.
its really easy to run lean and run into trouble on a dry kit.

best mods for nitrous and nitrous safty.

Bottle heater, this keep the pressure constant in the bottle.
as pressure drops so does performance. so keeping presure optimized helps consistency.

fuel pressue safety switch,
this monitors fuel pressure, if it drops below a certan level it turns the nitrous off preventing engine damage.

fuel pressure gauge, nitrous pressure gauge and an egt gauge.
the egt works lots like the air fuel ratio gauge but is a bit more acurate and more informitive.

non platnum plugs, these are a must since platnum reacts with nitrous.
the tr6 is a good plug but if you dont want to spend that much a normal set of ac delcos works just fine. its a good idea on larger shots to lessen the gap of the plug.
nitrous can actually blow out the spark

Any preferences on brands of nitrous?...I've been looking mostly at Nitrous Express (NX) but obviously there's a LOT more out there..feel free to let me know! AND...Springs, do you sell nitrous kits through APOC?? If so, which ones and how much??

NOS is my favorite kinda kit, but NX is good also.


and for the record a set of NGK tr6 plugs is only $11 for the whole set. that is very in expensive


and also, i totally forgot, and i'm glad springs brought it up, with a dry kit the fuel perssure safety switch is a MUST!!!!!!! one is included in NOS dry kits

also, not to try to steal business from springs, but you can find TONS of good deals on lightly used nitrous kits. Like my first dry kit, i got used for $200, and it worked PERFECT, and still works perfect in the kids car who i sold it too. and the worst thing that can be wrong with a used kit is the solenoids goin bad, but they only cost $30 to rebuild

I sell nitrous express.
600 for a basic kit plus shipping
honestly the best deals are on ebay but this time of year everyone wants nitrous so its harder to get killer deals on ebay.
I bought my kit in the winter and got 2200 worht of stuff for just over 1,000
most of it brand new.

either way dry or wet ket a fuel pressure safty switch is a good idea

You guys kick ass...thank you for ALL the info! First thing's first, tomorrow (friday) i am ordering my wheels and tires then when i get those in I am getting all new suspension. After that's all done..nitrous will probably be my next thing Thanks again!!
