Not Firing...?

Hey guys a little help here.

So about 2 weeks ago...my car didnt want to start. it would turn over but wouldnt start so i tapped the gas and started up no problem.

a week ago the same thing happened, and still tapped the gas and started up.

Yesterday, again it happened. Only this time. i tap the gas and it doesnt want to fire...it will turn over but not fire..
So the entire day i kept trying it periodically, killed the battery in the process. A few times it wanted to fire but seemed like it didnt have enough spark or something.
Charged the battery all day today, slow charge, tried it about 30mins ago and still no fire.

I have been burning oil (in need of oil change anyway) but i dont think that is the problem, also i have been losing coolant...I have went thru 2 jugs of coolant in about a month...

I personally thought it was plugs and wires...
my step dad thinks it is something he calls "coils"
could it be PCM?
to be honest i dont even have an idea anymore.

Please help. Thanks you guys!

  • pull spark plugs, look at them. look inside cylinder head, notice if anything looks bad (coolant, melted spark plugs, cracked plugs)
  • do compression test
  • check fuel pressure, fuel filter clogged
  • air filter completely clogged

it's not the PCM... lol

You're blowing through coolant, find the leak.. fix what you know is wrong

I've seen cars not start because the coolant leaked internally so bad it kept the intake and in turn cylinders so wet it wouldn't fire... specifically 3800s. But yea... pressurize the system, look for external leaks. If not.. time to rip and tear.

Fouled spark plugs I would say, and you probably have a head gasket out, and maybe some bad rings. Start with the spark plugs though, easiest/cheapest first.

much less then a week, you could have that bad boy up in running in under 2 hours if you did everything but find out where your cooling went.

sounds like you have a head gasket on its way out and your dad is right you have coils not wires. I would take the coils out and stretch out the springs on the inside of them see if that helps any ( you can pull the springs out of them and stretch them then put it back in the coil its not hard )

Long shot here but do you see a flashing red light on your dash that says security?

No no flashing red light.
also we hooked up a scan tool to the car. cleared an evap code. (gas cap) and then tried starting it and it kinda burped and started right up...so we thought something maybe with being "airlocked"??

change your oil, your plugs, your coils, and fuel filter. if it continues there is no way theres an air lock in there and something much worse
