What do I need to set this up correctly?
I am planning on upgrading from stock rear speakers (blown out) and stock receiver. I want to know what else I should expect to buy besides these items. I have been reading other related posts, but have been getting more confused as I have never done any of this before.
I plan on buying these speakers, unless someone has a better recommendation around this price range or cheaper.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=AJ6MCC7J538IG
Will I need to buy any special wiring or will this work from the stock wiring? Are there other items I will need to purchase to make these work properly? Should I replace other speakers as well?
For the receiver I was thinking one of the two following, unless better recommendation:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A2TGMCZ4O2P52Z
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ALAQLAKJ574UN
I am pretty sure I will need to buy the $80 wiring harness, but beyond that is there anything else I need or that is recommended?
I plan on attempting to do the installation myself in order to save on costs. Any and all help will be appreciated. Please let me know if any more info from me is needed in order to help with this question.

I would get either this one or this one
Alpine receivers are high quality, have a decent amount of power and have awesome features to them.
As for the speakers, it depends on which stock system you have. If you have the sun & sound package, you might as well get speakers and an amp, if not, just some infinity's, alpine's or some pioneer's would do fine without going majorly into it.

I'm not into all the major audio upgrades, but I went with the Pioneer speakers that fit the Alero
I did Best Buy's fit chart

id say if ur gonna drop between 106-160 on a head unit to get one with a USB slot on the front. fill up a flash drive with music, pop it in and u have all ur music whenever you want, no cd burning required

if it were me i would get 6x5s for the back and 5.25 for the front and those speakers that heineck posted are good ones. but rockford t2s are good also. but if want to get pioneer get the premier headunit and speakers. or these http://www.morelhifi.com/products/mob_audio.html

The alpine head unit will be great for your system, I have the CDA-105 and its amazing. You can also get and amp thats specially made for alpine decks that will give you more power for you speakers. Its the Alpine 180w-4channel amplifier. I have Infinity Kappas in the front and rear of my car and they sound amazing with this thing. So go for the Alpine deck

first off your not going to want to get sony speakers they may be good for home audio but are S**T for car audio. i'd go with rear Kicker or MTX speakers. and the deck probably gonna want to get a JVC for they are best in power and performance.
i'd be looking at these here
Speakers
and these
Deck
Just find your price range

I replaced my stock deck/speakers with infinity's and a kenwood deck and been loving it since. Nothing crazy but great clarity.

Lol, couple things. That JVC statement, no. Not even close. Sony ALWAYS shit for car audio? Easy there big guy. When making suggestions don't just go with what the misinformed crowd does. Everyone on youtube wants to cry that all Sony products are total shit just because they heard a serious car audio enthusiast at one point in time say that. No, you will not see anyone taking a "Sony Xplod" setup into an SPL competition looking to set world records, but to step up from a stock/ factory setup? You'll notice a difference if you know even half of what you're doing... Personally, it is natural for me to recommend a bit higher established products as I HAVE experience and HAVE personally HEARD a good deal of setups, and crave a certain sound. That's why you won't see me suggesting them, but you don't see me running my mouth about them either... Don't go with the cheap-o head units, or you'll get a less than mediocre anything from any brand....
In Sony's defense, tell me this wouldn't work:
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665755310
17 watts continuous power.
4-volt pre-amp outputs.
Blue-tooth capabilities.
Front usb and auxiliary jack.
Seriously, you have no basis behind your statements, and it doesn't make you any more knowledgeable by saying so. And all of your suggestions, you typed in all of the speakers you claim to have in your car, then linked the results. There are plenty of places better on the net to find audio equipment, only with warranties from the manufacturers...
These three being my personal favorites:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/
http://www.audiosavings.com/index.aspx
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-MdFZM0r9ACI/
Also, eBay is your friend, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Just know what you are looking for. A lot of times I can find products from the sonicelectronix or audiosavings ebay store for cheaper. I can't even begin to tell you how much I have saved over the years. Between friends cars and my own, i'd say well over $1,000.
Now, on to some suggestions. Going off of your information, it looks as if this will be your first aftermarket radio/ speaker installation. Fun fun fun. Biggest tip I can really give you is to read and read and read. And do things right THE FIRST time! Take your time, you'll be happier in the end.
I have owned and installed 3 different Kenwood decks in my car. The two of which I have switched out are still running strong in my friends cars. Total, I have remained loyal to Kenwood as I have found them, the best bang for your buck on the market today. Especially when it comes to shopping with a reasonable budget.
Speakers. Your best option honestly is to go with a fairly good set of drop-in co-axials. Simply for the reason that they will make installation a breeze, and will more than satisfy your sound needs off of head-unit power.
Wiring harness, you've probably put a little time into searching. I went with the gmos-01, and haven't had an issue. It comes with the wiring diagram so once your head unit comes in, you can wire your new harness into the gmos-1, then it's just plug-n-play after that.

i had some sony xplod 6x9's in my rear deck. now they were a great upgrade from blow stock speakers, and actually did a decent job at playing music, up until i got my subs.
after a few weeks of sub abuse the center post of the speaker (the one that holds the tweeters) actually broke off and was resting on the speaker, and just made them sound like shit.
my JL 6x9s haven't had a problem yet, and do sound a little nicer yet, but also had a higher retail cost.
but i had a sony deck and loved it. sony is ok for just plain use i think

my doors are the Kicker DS460's, and my rear speakers are older Power Acustiks with the Jensen UV-8 dvd deck it sounds like a small theater in there as long as im not doing 70mph after that i can't hear anything in my car cause of my dumb idea to put a rice can on it

Ya, but thats $300 hes lookin at decks in the $100 range
i have this here
http://mobile.jvc.com/product.jsp?mo...hId=142&page=3
its $100 less better specs and has arsenal.
also you payed way to much for your harness. i got mine at canadian tire for $40... although idk what would be equivalent to canadian tire in the states.
Also i didn't mean to trash sony. I Personally dont think they are that much of an upgrade from stock because i blast my speakers, i like my music LOUD . Although i applaud the sony xplod i have abused the hell out of it and its still going strong.

That was off of Sony's website, here's ebay for $100.00 less.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-MEX-BT5700U...ht_1172wt_1137
Second, this is the harness I got, there are a few different ones compatible when trying to retain door chimes and the RAP feature.
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...Feh25QodKgflGQ
I gave him the first result I came up with. We don't really have an equivalent for Canadian tire here. A lot of people on this site say they get their VHT Niteshades from Canadian Tire, I had to order mine online. As far as the harness, I believe I payed $90.00 for mine when I got it two years ago. If yours has all of the same features for $40.00, then consider yourself a lucky man. lol

This: Is the head unit I suggested. That Sony link was to prove that Sony is not worthless...
