Billions and Billions of Horsepower
Really I think some have made 300 hp with the right accessories. That is about where the tranny will hold to.

in terms of track times in an "all motor" street driven car, the best I've seen with a '99+ N-body is in the mid 13's IIRC.

We've made 227whp out of a 3400 before, and based on some improvements we've made since then, I think we can get 240 or more with that setup. This is a more extreme setup, our Stage 3.

I have parts on 2 engines that should break 250 whp, without destroying drivability. My heads and cam are on a motor making 222whp without any drivability issues at all. How is drivability with that stage 3 MMS setup?

driveability is fine. We had it on a car for about 9 months or so straight. We ate a couple tensioners during that time, but that's to be expected with a cammed 3400.

Did you get the brakes/vacuum taken care of then, or was that a different prototype?
Dave on v6z24/60degreev6 has 273 whp or something in the 270s.

We had issues with vacuum on the first car we tested it on, this was the second car, same exact heads and cam setup ... no issues whatsoever with the vacuum. We even had a vacuum pump system ready to put on it just in case, but it was fine without it.

okey dokey...back on topic, would you get 300 hp by doing upgraded internals, tuning it, port & polish, and a bigger throttle body and a cold air intake?
its a possibility that in the next few years that i may buy my uncle's cutlass supreme for a daily driver and work on the alero to be the ultimate sleeper.

Not a chance in hell without a pretty wild cam and large injectors. Higher compression would get you closer but i don't know enough to tell you for sure. What do you mean by upgraded internals? I have ported heads, uim, lim, 65mm tb, exhaust, and a tune with a cai of course and i doubt im close to 200hp, so 100 hp even with a cam seems like a bit of a stretch without higher compression and higher octane fuel. Milzy or someone else please correct me if i am wrong this is mostly speculation on my part.

With the right cam and heads combo and some high compression, I think 300 crank hp is very possible. The 227 we mentioned before is around 284crank hp, so when I mentioned 240whp, that was 300. Now if you're talking 300whp, i think it would take a lot more. 375 crank hp would be a gain of 200 over stock. I think a highly modified 3900 could do it, but not sure on a 3400.

ASS'08 is more of a fun & show event for our little Alero group sponsored by the Alero Chapter of OCA (Oldsmobile Club of America)which includes a road trip to the Olds Homecoming show on Saturday which happens to be one of the largest, if not largest annual all Oldsmobile show on the face of the earth.
