Heres the start of my speaker pods.
Thats 3 to 4 layers of glass. The thin weave from Wal Mart. I intend to cover the outside with 2-3 layers of strand mat from Wal mart.
I removed the stock pods using a drill to drill out the melted pegs. Theres two metal rivets to drill out in the same fashion.
I put down PLENTY of blue painters tape. Then I glassed right over it. Its hard already (warm day and I mixed on the hot side). Not fully cured though... Next step will be to pull it off. Get the tape off. Get the general base shape. Add wood where I can. I anticipate 5 mounting points. Use Hurricane nuts in wood. Then cut some speaker rings. Dowel rods and hot glue into place.
At which point I will need to actually run these in the car to ensure they are aimed where I want them. The tweeter I want to mount on a pivot and run it also until I find where I want it. Then its time to cover and glass...

Pfffft it looks like shit.
I got WAY to many irons in the fire right now to get any sizeable amount of work done on any 1 area... lol
My plan at this point is to get the doors dampened tomorrow. While continuing to work on these pods. And get them done. Then go back to the sub box... Then to the amp rack...

I have a router and designed/built my own circle jig. I cut the outside first. Then I cut and set the depth of the counter bore. Then I cut the hole thru where need be.
They are kinda a PITA to make, but the results are good. My router bit sucks. I need a new one!
No thats not a SoundStream speaker...
I forgot to add I accidently bought yet another SoundStream amp this week. So now:
Ref 500 to my sub
Ref 300 to R mid
Ref 300 to L mid
Ref 160s to R tweet
Ref 160s to L tweet
lol
5 amps... man Im nuts...
The shit part is... Now I gotta upgrade my wiring. I can let it slide, has to be done. 2 Ga is what I really need, but fittings and fuse blocks are about non existant for it. Hell 2 ga wires hard to find anymore... its 4 ga to 1/0... lol

Way back when, 2ga was semi popular. Tiff carried a lot of 2ga stuff. Now, I dont think any 2ga is marketed for mobile audio.
I can get 1/0 for $3.40/ft from Knu. Im gonna check with Cargodz though. Maybe he will have a deal, I hope. I surely wasnt anticipating 5 amps. I gotta get a bunch of new blocks too...

Im not liking the way this is going. Im only doing 1 to start/learn with. Im not liking how its going, at all. Im going to scrap it and start again. It just doesnt have the look I want... It doesnt fit the way I want. It just sucks.

Ok, update to this thread.
Basically the pod idea was a no go. My speakers are 7 inchers... Pods will work good for 5.25", maybe 6"- 6.5" might push it...
So I fiberglassed my door pod right on the door panel:
http://www.aleromod.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27281
Finished pic without covering:
I got my Alarm in and wired up. Its a Scytek Precision 200. Its not a 2 way or remote start, just an alarm. Pretty impressed with it at this point! Mounting an Alarm in the HO is a giant PITA. The only place I could get to work was right above the gas pedal on a metal bracket. Took the drivers seat out to do it also, much easier that way.
So now my power wire is ran, properly:
http://www.aleromod.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27334
My speaker wire is ran (4 lines to the front) on Passenger side.
RCAs down the center @ console.
Interior all back in minus rear seat and seat trim.
I need to sound deaden the drivers door and get the new panel in there.
Build the massive amp rack and finish the sub box... Before I can do much on the amp rack part I need my new ground foot. Ended up getting this little beauty:
