Yesterday i made a 500km trip mostly on back curvy roads, aleros really handle well , as i came to the expressway i started to speed up. I got to about 160kmh and the engine felt like it cut off fuel or something. Kinda like i took my foot off the gas at 160, felt a jerk and then started to slow down. any thoughts?

btw, the 500km was on one tank of gas!!!

Well, this might not pertain, but I'll share my story about my '91 Olds Cutlass that had a similar issue.

It started small kinda like what you described, 3-4 months down the road it got much worse, like I was riding a rodeo bull. Took it into the shop and 5 months later they finally figure out what they really needed to fix... after replacing the vaccum lines re-learning the fuel system and a couple other things that didnt work... Finally they replace my O2 sensor and something called a prom, and it runs well since.

Chances are if you take it into the shop they won't see anything wrong, but who knows. Coulda been a 1 time thing, I would hope.

*edit* it was with a 3.1 Multiport engine v-6

You hit your speed limiter.

That's about 100mph. Aleros hit fuel cutoff at 108mph in the states. That's probly what you hit. It just shuts off the fuel until you fall below by enough. If you keep your foot in it, you'll "bounce" off the cutoff.

I thought that it was that but wasnt positive. Ive always been near the limiter but i guess i never bounced off of it. Funny thought, the stats i have for the GL V6 is that max speed is 200kmh not 160kmh. i guess some1 didnt do there calculations right.... issed: tanx guys

lol, just because your odometer shows 200kmh doesnt mean it will go to that!. Its just a random number thats on your odometer. And it should cut off at 160kmh, mine doesnt shut off for 178kmh.

Anything domestic in the U.S. is domestic in Canada.

And your speed limiter is at ~175KM/h, not 160KM/h, but you probably just werent looking closely enough.
