Cat-back exhaust

I have a 2000 Alero GL with 2.4L. I have a decent exhaust leak due to corrosion of the I-pipe close to where it connects to the muffler. I don't think the pipe is going to last much longer, so I was thinking of getting an aftermarket cat-back exhaust for it. I have only found one that uses factory hangers from Pacesetter and it is really nice but costly. I was wondering if there are any other options out there, because so far I haven't been able to find any.

Pacesetter is as cheap as they come

Actually, I'm pretty sure you can get one of those cheaper than a new exhaust replacement from GM.

The only thing I'd worry about is how long it would last.

Your other option would be Borla, but if you think the pacesetter is too expensive, Borla is a lot more pricey.

Your other option would be to take it to an exhaust shop and see how much they want to replace your piping.

I was aiming at a pacesetter cat back, but after hearing a couple of sound clips, I think it sounds too raspy for me so I'll probly go custom exhaust.

Borla sounds good, but cost 4X the price of the pacesetter.

pacesetter is a good kit for the money. I found it to be a good price compaired to a shop. the tube is 2.5 and fits nice I got mine for $270 shipped from performance center (www.performancecenter.com) when it was on sale but now the price is $308 free shipping. for the price its a good kit for the price.

the borla kit is an awsome kit but for $800+ its a little to expensive for most. this kit is ss and will last a life time prob. but its $800 and a little steep for my wallet.

I think he was refering to the raspy thing I said. Yalero, you have a V6, pacesetter sounds good with it, but on the 4 banger, its different. I wonder if resonator could really change that.

Do you think running no resonator with a magnaflow muffler on a 4 cyl will sound like crap?

from what ive heard, magnaflow has a deeper tone on 4 banger generally. Its only that the pacesetter is really raspy, I cant find that guy that posted a clip of his exhaust setup. He had a pacesetter header, high flow cat and the pacesetter cat back. I think he wanted to change it because it was too raspy.

Redog suggested the Flowmaster 60, Apparently it doesn't sound too bad on the 4 banger.

Mine is sort of deep, but not that loud. I'm planning on going to get my resonator off soon to see if it improves the sound at all.

I gonna throw in a high flow cat ,magna of course, and go 2.5", but my only worry is getting a decent header

question though...if my exhaust is 2.5 inches all the way but my muffler inlet is 2.25 is that gonna really hurt my whole exhaust setup???

Thanks guys for the input. I just got the I-pipe repaired today so that it would take a sticker, but the Pacesetter setup may be in its future. $308 with free shipping is the best deal I have heard of yet, that's even cheaper than SummitRacing and they are usually awesome when it comes to prices. I wonder what that exhaust would do to help out in the horsepower/torque department. I imagine it wouldn't do too much on the L-4.

Having a 2.5" exhaust flow into a 2.25" muffler is like having an entire 2.25" exhaust. Get a 2.5" muffler and you'll be fine.

As far as a header, Pacesetter is the way to go.

Is there any site that has a sound clip for the 4 banger pacesetter cat back set up?

I've seen tons of the 3.4 on youtube but don't see any for the 2.4
