back on topic....
Gutting your cat is retarded, as is removing it alltogether for street use. get a high flow, its virtually identical to a straight pipe, and is legal. people laziness and eagerness to cut corners is astounding.

Saves 80 bucks if you were to ACTUALLY do a full exhaust. But otherwards, it doesnt do anything significant for performance. Come back to us with this question when your pushing 400 horses, but you'll prolly still get shit from someone

Well just to get things back on topic and lessin the flamewar....REMOVING CAT altogether = loss of performance, not gain....nuff said I think....just switch the system to a 3 inch exhaust all the way from motor to bumper with a highflow cat, throw on the turbo and here we GO!!!!

I've had exhaust systems on previous cars, but have never had the thought of cutting off the cat.....have you ever heard a honda with exhaust and the cat cut out......LAWNMOWER ON STEROIDS

I can honestly say that I had the cat the removed from my previous car (non alero) and noticed tthat the sound is horrible and also that the gas mileage was affected. I personally will NEVER do it again. I have a high flow magnaflow cat on my alero and it seemed to open up the performance a "little" and also made it sound better. Just my opinion.
