So does adding a turbo or super change the compression in the chambers?

yes. if you have a cylinder with X amount of Air/Fuel (AF) at the bottom of the stroke it's 0 psi (regular air pressure eqivilent) then the piston compresses it to 8 times as dense at the top of the stroke before spark. 8.0:1

well then lets take that same X amount of AF and pack in another X into the same cylinder at the same time. then compress that all together... thats' effectivley like twice the density... am i right in thinking this way...

http://www.kb-silvolite.com/feature....n=read&F_id=41 here look at this chart

thanks for all your help.

So does adding the Forced Air Induction help treat your engine nicer or help with gas mileage?

lol... no and no... you have so much fun driving it that you mash on the gas all the time which increases wear AND casues bad gas mileage... lol

my WRX gets 22-23 in the city or when i'm mashing on it and 26-27 on the highway

ask ION what his mileage is like compared to stock

ION what do you get for gas mileage?

So most supers go on top of the engine and turbos go under?

Wrong, you are confusing two different terms...

how does that make sense. i said pre-spark detonation... that means that the mixture was so compressed that it detonated before the spark ignited it... i don't think i'm confusing anything. i just might have said it wrong..

Ok so pre detonation is when there is to much pressure in the cylinders and the FA mixture explodes before it reaches TDC?

preignition in an internal-combustion engine, ignition occurring before the intake valve is closed or before the spark plug fires

Ok and i couldnt find anything on pre detonation really, So what is that?

So what exactly does it mean with pre-ingniton?
And what exactly is Pre-Detonation?

Why does 7 have to come after 8. Why do gas pedals have to push down instead of pull up?

Detonation is after spark, pre-ignition is before spark, "pre-spark detonation" is incorrect terminology.

Ok really if you think my questions are dumb, you dont need to even read them, or post dumb things. I am pretty sure i am not the one and only person on here that has no idea about turbos and supers. or what pre ignition or pre detonation is.

Golf clap. I'm waiting for the questions as to why the grass is green and the sky is blue.

I understand you have questions but geezus...the internet is a big place...Wikipedia should answer most of your questions.

lol... i don't care... a lot is quite basic, if there is something very pointed, ask away... but i think some get annoyed with complete generalites... i don't care either way... it gives me something to read on here.

Ok then

so having a DOHC engine, does that add to the performance of A super or a turbo?
