Wheel Hub... Which one.....

Hello all,

I know the bearing is gone in my car but im just not sure which one is shot. One moment it sounds like it is coming from the passenger then from the driver side the next. Any help would be great. Thanks

you should be able to feel the difference in the vibration throughout the car, if not i think there was a trick with jacking up the car and checking the play in the wheel

When you turn, does the sound change?

Ryan from Ohio will become famous soon enough
If you turn and the sound goes away whichever way your turning- thats the bad one.

Get a long piece of small wood. Have someone else drive and place the wood to the farthest corner front- closest to wheel. Putt wood on your ear so you can hear the vibration. Check both sides.

Is'nt this the type of thing that should be replaced in pairs?

I've replaced both of mine at different times, both because of speed sensors not noise. You can test the speed sensors with an ohm meter, but if they're just noisy and not setting of the dash lights you have to go with a hard corner to the left, if it gets louder then it's the right bearing, then a hard corner to the right, if that's louder then it's the left bearing.....
