Has anyone or does anyone know someone who has actually converted from automatic transmission to manual transmission. The automatic shift is killin' me, I need the feel of the clutch and shifter one more. If anyone has any feedback it's much appreciated. Thankx.

Ive actually thought of conversion many times but it might even be cheaper to sell your old car take out everything you changed and replace them with stock then buy a manual alero and put back in your mods.

It's definitely respectable for what it is. It sure doesn't pull like my 3400 5-speed does! (that's all custom).

IMO, it's more than respectable. My Auto Alero puts Cavy's in the ground...so I am sure a manual Alero would have no problem...

Go to our club site and you'll see the exact Cavalier. I pull on him about 10 feet per shift, then he SLOWLY creeps back up. Without a decent launch by him he loses PERIOD. Believe what you want, I could care less as I have 'been there, done that'.

Oh and BTW, he has base model, so no extra weight from sun roof, power windows, etc. He has a sub in the back and that's it.

gosh you people are still just as hateful as ever! =(

HOWEVER!
haha if i was gonna do the manual thing, psh i would just put in a crate engine too =-P but yeh no i would never do that. I love those new Cobalt SS supercharged.. i test drove one the other day. just get a manual one of those! they are a lot like the alero and well priced =))) it would be cheaper in the long run i tell ya.
oh and in the mean time you can manually shift your auto by using your other drive settings. haha i dont recommend it but its basically the same.. i was told once that it was like shifting in a manul but without activating the clutch or something... i wasnt paying attention tho so my facts could be a little off.

i believe that its a little tougher on stuff but not enough to be a problem, what i was saying is that it is plain retarded. The car is faster if you just put it in D and go, why waste effort with an automatic like that when it is 1. slightly better for it to leave it alone, 2. more effiecient to leave it in D, 3. you dont look like a retard pretending to have a manual car. Hence why this guy wants to swap, manuals are fun, autos for the most part are not.
