Newbie 2.4 Rebuild

I was on this site some time ago and registered.
Now I'm back because it's time to pull the engine
that I blew last February
I now hove a Cavalier to drive and a 2.4 going

No questions just giving some of you more knowledgable guys a
chance to sharpen your claws
Second thought dig right in.
Any and all tips for removing 2.4L on the driveway
Things to watch out for things not to do
Very clean car otherwise I wouldn't have kept it
I'm old enough to know I have the potential to screw this up$$$$$$
I did check FAQ for engine removal

Try to keep all the bolts organized if possible so when you go back to put it together you would be looking around for a bolt you put elsewhere (ie. use something like a fishing bait box or something equiv.)

the 2.4 is really easy to take out, i've done it in an evening with help from my dad. the only special tool you need is a cherry picker. just make sure to keep everything organized if you have problems remembering how stuff goes together.

Took me a year to get forged pistons that were missing rings for one piston. Then another month to get the ringset for one piston.

Also their exhaust manifold flange I got from them was junk. Basically nothing lined up, shoddy manufacturing process. was a great paper weight though.

When pulling apart a 2.4 I put every set of bolts and fasteners into a separate zip lock baggie and photographed the entire process. If I wasn't so lazy, I would write up a guide on how to dismantle a 2.4. Then reattach it to a 2.3 head and 282 tranny, but alas I'm lazy as hell.

When pulling any engine a complete set of before pix is a great reference to have. And manta blows donkeys!
