ok dude well see ill bet money the alero can handle a 55 shot! and if not ill spend soem extra money to get forged rods and pistons....o wait those will be through my hood 10 feet away! :rolleyes:

Ok let me get this right... Nitrous+ Stock motor= Blown motor.

Nitrous and stock motors dont mix dude... No matter what you think Every time u press that lil button with ur trigger happy finger is just that much life wasted out of your motor... If you push your motor to the limit even with a 55shot. it is still possible to blow something in your motor... and then you would be whining that u need a new motor or whatever... Im not against nitrous or anything... I am against stupid peopl who put nitrous on unmodded engines and think it will run fine...

How many people blew the motor with a dry kit? I know that one kid in Canada did.

Let him blow it if he wants to. After this thread, when he blows his motor, he won't tell us. I don't think he understands that we are trying to help him out.

If you're going to do spray, go wet. Just think about it, You cannot shoot a 55 shot into a motor and not go too lean.

A dry shot is all air, very cold air. A GM EFI motor's PCM will make the motor go all the way lean, and then BOOM!

Yes, you spark plugs can go through the hood, if they get enough force behind them, same as your pistons.

But it's your car, do what you want

Well, I'm getting dragged into this. There have been many people on this site that have used nitrous and not blown their motor. Whether it was a wet or dry kit, I don't know. I've heard from many people that our motors can a handle a 75 shot, if you only use it at the track. I doubt he will blow his motor, but please, don't overuse it! I've always heard a general rule for nitrous, you don't want to add more than 30% of your stock or current hp. So, with 170hp, that equals a 50shot of nitrous. Good luck man, I'm on your side on this.

and Reddog, when my car was sucking in colder air through the CAI, my AF gauge always read on the rich side, compared to when it was warm. So, I don't think the computer will lean it out too much, if at all.

well nitris is a little different than your every day air. nitrous is like doubling the amount of oxygen. the car isnt really prepared to handle a very high level of air over fuel at a sudden time.

just curious, do you have those? and is 600 before install?

its not so much the nitrous that will blow your motor. people have ran nitrous with no problems, its the fact that its a DRY kit. people on this site, or others using nitrous all use a wet kit for this reason.i dont get why your willing to spend so much on beefing up the internals, when your problems could be avoided by getting a different type of kit. (which is about 500 minus selling the kit you have)

im in no way a expert about nitrous, but some of the guys who posted on this thread really know there crap about it, id listen to them

goodluck, a new 3400 should only cost you about 500 in parts on the bright side

Yeah, I agree with everyone here, wet injection is the way to go. You will have to add more fuel to keep the motor from blowing itself up. Does Zex off an upgrade?

Wait, they do offer wet kits, but not for our application. Not sure if some of these others will work.

no he doesn't. he's stock
intake and exhaust. Nothing internal.

If you blow the engine, its a tad bit late to buy forged rods and pistons

1 person off this board blew his 3400 up usin NOS

MANY others have had NO problems



I used to run a 75 shot DRY NOS kit outta my car, and i was a phuchin Button Junkie, I used to hit the button from 1000 rpm's in 1st gear, do Nitrous burnouts, and one time i held the button down for abotu 20 seconds straight (ur not suppose to do more than 10 seconds at a time)



So once again noone wants to hear about this guy u met, or ur buddy that told u about this guy he talked to, who blew his car up usin dry nitrous


If u never had it on UR car, and really don't know anything about it SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!!

U'll be fine with a 55 dry shot dood, but there are a few precuations u can take

Hit me up on a PM and i'll tell u everything u need to know


Unlike alota peeps, I have researched it and have a very good knowledge of nitrous


and as far as quarter times, when i was runnin a 50 dry shot with only a intake and xhuast, my best run was 14.8

I figure i can get away with just upgrading the fuel pump, im not trying to gain anywhere near 140 hp form a shot of NOS
