I was looking for some info on exactly what CAI do. I know the basic concepts, but I have heard about people getting pretty big mpg gains, along with additional "get up and go"

What effect does having one do to the engine?
Will having one void my manufacturer or extended (Guardian) warranty?

Anything else interesting you know would be appreciated.

the end of winter brings out ppl wanting to mod their cars.

If you are interested in getting a CAI, I now sell 3" intakes. I need to get a couple of more orders in before I make the next batch.

First thing first, I accidently typed CAI, when I meant WAI. We get a ton of snow and rain, so CAI is out.

Before posting this, I had browsed through many pages of topics and read a bunch about WAI's as well as stuff on other sites.

I never really found anything that related to warranty info though.

I should have posted this in my original post, but one of my concerns was a post on here I had read that said WAI/CAI cause the engine to run leaner, which causes problems down the line.

I don't know how true that is.

As far as making the engine run leaner, yes, it will... but not by much. The engines are engineered to have varience in the richness anyway, and the CAI will not put it out of those limits at all. But you are getting more air into the engine which will lean it out a bit.

Also, as far as warranty stuff goes, the burden of proof falls on the dealership to prove that the modification caused the damage that needs to be repaired. So, if you have a CAI and drive it through a 2 foot flood, and it sucks up water... yeah that is your fault and they can prove it. However, for most everything else, they can't void your warranty for what basically ammounts to changing the air filter.

If you had any questions about passing inspection... I believe that California is the only state that requires all modifications to be CARB approved... so my CAI or WAI wouldn't be legal there.

And I also sell a WAI setup if you are interested. PM me for details.
