the 3800 is nice, but it's less work/money to mod a 3400 than swap a 3800. Besides, people are less likely to be impressed over a motor that's supposed to be faster, than one that's supposed to be slow but isn't.

it should fit because some guy did it to his late 90's cavalier and a 5 speed from a sunfire bolted up to it.

Dimensionally, it will fit into the engine bay. However, it is NOT a direct bolt-in. Lots of modifications, including axles.
