Help me find my r134a leak
Note: This is for a 1999 Alero V6 with 40K miles...
I have a r134a leak. Looking around (yes even with UV glasses) I am seeing some highly suspicious stains (yellowish area )in the area around the HP port, pictured below:
From looking at those pictures, is that indicative of the port being bad, the gasket between the port and the A/C line, the A/C line itself, or maybe the pressure switch below it. What do you think?

It was my Mom's car for the first 9 years of it's life so it sat in a garage and was only used to go to Walmart and the doctors.

The thought also occurred to me that that dye might be splatter from the initial fill.

I changed my high side port years ago because it was leaking. But your right about the splatter, the pressure when you take the line off sprays a little out.

How did you determine that it was leaking? I did change out a high side port on another car, but it was obvious in that I could hear the leak, making it easy enough to find.

Figure your leak out yet? I was reading on the net about the gm high side service port, I guess they leak, a lot! It might be a good idea to just get it replaced. I just had my own A/C issues. Blowing cold while driving but at a stop or just idling warm air. The low side was reading 55 psi and high side was 150 psi. Internal compressor failure. Got a new compressor, dryer, and orifice tube. Flushed the evaporator and lines. Works great now.

I have not figured out my leak yet, and might not anytime soon. I have no idea how long the current r134a charge will last either, but it's leaking too slow to find right now.
