lagging

okay so for a while now my car has had like a "dead" spot when in second and the throttle is a little less than half depressed. the dead spot is from 3200 rpm's to 3500, once past 3500 the thing climbs no problem. do they all do this? any thoughts?

I'm assuming auto cause my Vitara had the same exact problem...and i threw a rod 3 weeks later...
