Front plate mount
I noticed how most of you guys don't have the ugly front bumper cover mount for the lisence plate. I was wondering why or how you removed it or how I could remove it? Thanks

Should be 2 bolts or screws unless it was riveted on.

If you remove it, you'll have 2 holes in your front bumper

noob questions make me grumpy....
if you take if off, you can put it back one anytime. Mine was 4 screws from the dealer. Access from the front side after you remove the plate. Fill holes with wood putty, Caulk, body filler ect... Use touch up paint to blend in the filler and it's like it never happened.

If anybody knows of someone that wants to part with theirs, I'd be interested in it. Gotta have a front plate here in New Hampshire. Tired of looking at the plate screwed into the bumper. I'll just paint it so it looks better.

I ended up with 4 in mine.
I had to have it in IL. Car is now resisted in IN and not required. Some people like the look of them. I prefer the undisturbed body lines w/o it. Mine was riveted on, on this car. had to drill them out. On my old 03 it was just screwed into the bumper.
If you are wanting that plate holder. I have one.

Suppose I could just measure the holes in the bumper and put a couple screws through it.

Just so you know since you live in South Dakota you are required to display both a front and rear license plate so if you do take it off and don't display the plate on the front of the vehicle you could get fined for it.
As for how you remove it like others said it should just be 2 screws holding it on. At least that's how it was on my Intrigue, but like Redog said it will leave holes in your bumper once removed. So if you don't want to look at the holes you'll have to do what fisdad said.
As for why some people removed them a lot of Alero's didn't even come with one. If you find an Alero that was originally registered in states like Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Alabama, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, etc. they only require you display one license plate on the rear of the vehicle. So they don't need or require the front plate bracket.

Why would you want to convert it to rivets? Bolts are better.

The bracket on my Camaro has 3 rivets.... the bastards.
So this might be a variable on each car.

OK I'll say it again since you missed it the last time:
Rivits are just one way of putting it on the car. There isn't a certain style of front bracket for rivits or one for bolts or one for screws it just all depends on how you put it on the car. You could even use toggle bolts if your heart desired.
