iPad on the dash...

Oops! sorry for the typo but I do have an iPod touch on the dash...

It is attached with velcro so it can be rotated if necessary.

wait till the adhesive on the velcro gets hot and goopy and your ipod falls and the screen cracks

Neat idea. If you then it then more power to you! Personally i'd be more on the paranoid side with it possibly falling or whatnot. Plus i feel it would be a little easier to switch up songs and everything when it's not attached to the dash. Either way, original idea.

Everyone can hate I could care less. The adhesive is strong and won't fail. It looks good and it's a lot safer and I won't run the risk of getting a ticket cause a police officer perceives me changing songs as texting.

i know you can buy a car accessory for it, what's the point in that when I can do it for free and have the idea to design it myself?

It's no diss to you in any way man, but that accessory looks nice. Props again for being original, if it suits you, then that's all that matters! But for $15.00 and a legitimate no-fail method... It looks tempting. And to say that you designed it yourself, you came up with the location and used a wal-mart velcro pad. I'm sure it won't get warm enough for the adhesive to lose its stickiness, but it looks like it's in a tight spot. Another thing, just don't change songs when you are being swarmed with cops!

Whatever, I have never seen it done before and I didn't use anything more than I already had... Dremel, Velcro strips, the mount and my iPod.

I used the mount that the iPod comes in when you buy it. I trimmed the squared edges down to only what I needed so it looks alot cleaner.
