The halfway mark is the ideal place for it to run...going a little past that on hot days (especially with the A/C running) is to be expected. It sounds like your cooling system is running optimally. If stock is 180, I wouldn't recommend going any lower, especially with cooler weather coming on...your heater won't get as hot and it could lead to gumming up your oil, as lower temps won't boil out condensed water vapor from your crankcase as easily (same reason cars that are only driven short trips where they don't fully warm up get gummed up). Fuel mileage will likely suffer also.

Yeah your cooling system is normal.

Our radiators are tiny. If you want it to always stay below 1/2, get a bar and plate aluminum thick radiator.
