Check out http://www.ecotecpower.com/forums/

They have a lot of knowledge about those motors. Also there's a GMPP M62 kit for the L61 2.2 Ecotec you can sometimes buy used for a decent price as well.

If you research it well you will most likely find it easier to build the l61 as to do the swap there will need to be a decent amount of wiring changes and extensive tuning.

Places like Jeg's carry performance parts for the Ecotec, like cam and lifter kits, bearings and the like.

It's been discussed before on the Ecotec forum and the J body forum. Basically, it's a pointless swap. What you spend in dealing with the 2.0 gremlins (ECM, VVT, electrical throttle, etc) you're better off spending in beefing up the L61. The engine actually has a lot of aftermarket support. It almost rivals that to the Honda lines of engines.

If you seriously want to swap engines, you could do a block swap from a 2.4 LE5 and use your L61 head to make a hybrid engine. Then you can do your preferred method of forced induction. The LE5 is a variant of the L61, although a beefed up version of it. If you look this up, you'll find more information.

I've heard of people grabbing the turbo stuff from a Saab at the junkyard and bolting it on to the L61. That's another way to go.

I personally would S/C and find stuff from the Cobalt. The Cobalt SS for its first 2 years was based off the L61. In fact, GM even sold a bolt on kit for the Cavalier and Sunfire that made them into what the Cobalt SS was. GM even offered an ECM tune at their dealerships for this.

This was not the case for the Alero, Grand Am and Malibu, HOWEVER 75% of Cavalier Ecotec and even Twincam 2.4 stuff fits the N body.

If you look at the J body forum or the ecotec forum, there's loads of information about modding the engine.
