Why would you ever want a 3800? They're phasing it out for a reason. You'd be better off supercharging your existing engine..

This might sound stupid but would the GTP 3.8L stock supercharger work for the 3.4L alero?

It can be done, but the $$$ will be too much
If you decide to do it, you'll need the motor, tranny, and wiring hardness.
Somebody put that motor in a Cavy, another guy into a Grand Am so fitting into an Alero isn't a problem

Or you could figure out how to adapt the new 3900 block to the car...

absolutely NOT..........COMPLETELY different setup, there is NO WAY (as in it's IMPOSSIBLE..yea I said it)....to put the 3800 supercharger on our motor...
the 3800 is a waste of time........my modded 3400 smoked TONS of modded 3800's and quite a few SC 3800's (GTP, Regal, Riviera).......it's a big bulky motor
if you supercharge the 3400 plus mods..you can run in the mid-high 13's..hell Redog and I (before I totaled my car) are running mid 14's all motor n/a

*sigh* here we go again.
You smoked tons of something. It's not just a big bulky motor, it's also a heavier car (GP) in general. However, placed in a lighter platform, you would have an advantage. The 3800 is NOT a waste of time. Dont believe me? ZZP and Stattama have SEVERAL street driven GP's running 10's, on STOCK bottom ends. But I'm sure those are probably some of the ones that you've taken out already.
Bottom line, do what your wallet can afford. You want it bad enough, go for it. 3800 is a better platform to start off with. But if you want to do it with minimum hassle, then just go buy a GTP for a base.

The 3800 while robust is not a very well designed engine from the standpoint of being a proper V6. A 90° angle on a V6 does not promote a smooth running engine. It's also an odd-fire engine and needs the balance shaft and the MASSIVE harmonic balancer to smooth out the inherent vibrations of the engine design. The 60° design is a MUCH better design because of an even 120° of crank angle between firings and it's even fire with a 1-2-3-4-5-6 firing order. Not to mention, the new 3900V6 makes the same horsepower as the L67 with no need for a supercharger. The 3800 is also being phased out and is now only available in 3 models and only 1 with the SC.
