Brakes
Bearings
Brakes
and more brakes

You would think GM would have gotten some of these common issus worked out by the 03's and 04's came out, but NOPE. They still have the same damn brake and bearing issues.

The window tracks are too wide allowing dirt/sand/gravel to fall in there and get trapped.

My suggestion, just take apart your door panel and try and clean out the tracks.

My problems...

Window scratching.
Overhead carpet pealing.
Window gets stuck and wont roll down.
Right rear door leaks air.
Right now the engine is missing slightly, but I beleive new spark plugs/wires will fix that.
The light fixtures in the rearview are loose causing the lights to sometimes not illuminate.
300 miles to a tank of gas in the winter vs. 400+ in the summer.

Those are the only things I can think of w/a '99 and almost 40k on it.

humm lets see first was the shifter wouldn't go into reverse 2 times I fixed that problem the 2nd time myself. Then the wheel bearing both of them. Next was the brakes which are going bad agian. put a groove in the rotor first day I had them. then the window track and windows comming of track and getting the sandish groove. Then to top it off the master clutch which went out and also broke the clutch pedal in half very poopty desing. then to top off my cake when the master clutch went out they towed it and, put the hook on the trailing arms guess what that did bent it and now my rear end is f***ed all up squeaky bouncing spinning wobbling pos! not only did they bend it but shifted the whole rear end still waiting on the battle over that one

I've had my alero for almost 10000 miles now..(bought when it had 75000) The only thing that I had to replace was the fuel pressure regulator. I'm still getting horrible gas but I bet its just from my WAI. My windows just started to scratch about 2000 miles ago

Yeah, thats one thing i forgot to leave out, I heard from one of my co-workers, and from my dad, who works for the federal mine inspection agency. .... he said that the government cars(only the aleros) have front brake problems. He said that for every 2 out of 3 aleros, 2 of them have that problem. I also had/still have problems with my front left HUB assembly. I havent gotten that fixed yet though.

here is my list of stupid problems:
-brakes. and right after i got those fixed, my freaking calipers froze up.
-window scratches up my tint, and i had a lil plastic peace on my driver side window that broke up, and my window would just drop down instead of roll down.
-my headlights and guages wouldn't go off at one point and no one could figure out what that was.
-had to get a regulator for my back driver side window.
-my cd player could say calibrate and no one could figure out what that problem was.
and that's all.

When i took mine to the GM dealership, they couldn't figure it out. when they hooked the car up to the diagnostic machine, it didn't say nothing. i just gave up on it.

All I can think of is this:

1.Pass. Window coming off it's tracks (4th time two weeks ago)
2. Fuel Guage sticking (acting funny)
3. CD player will not eject CD fully

The only problems I've had with my Alero sinse I bought it was the Rear Defrost not working... something about a little plastic piece that melted... it would cost me about $300 to fix... at least that's what the dealership said... bunch of crap if you ask me.. umm.... when my car runs, sometimes it's below 1000 rpm, and sometimes it will be right on 1000 rpm.... when it's below, it feels like the motor shakes a little.... Other than that, everything runs great! I've had no problems with the windows though.... my windsheild is a little chipped... and my cd player is really picky. and that's all... It's pretty clean...

Brake Rotors(all Alero's)
Lower Intake Manifold Gasket (3400 V6)
Window Regulators (all Alero's...mostly 2 doors since the door is heavier..it slams harder causing them to break)
Wheel Bearings (all Alero's)
Foglights cracking/leaking (all Alero's w/ foglights..duh)

These are some of the most common problems w/ Alero's and Grand AM's

over 117000 miles and im on my third drivers window track and thats starting to go out
bumper warping and cracked fog light, and blower motor resitor but im fixing that tommorrow(again) , but i have figured out what the starting problem is and maybe a way to fix it cheap! the problem is the security system(passlock 2 ignition) but as soon as i test out my theory i will tell you guys how to fix it and its only going to cost around 20$ so when i try it i will post under the how to forum.

Ive gone through 2 window regulators and tracks
New Power steering pump
New Water Pump
New battery

those are thinks ive had to change

if your cd is getting stuck when comming out of an aftermarket headunit then take out the cd player and unbolt it from the case then move it all the way to the end so its snug and rebolt it on, most also have clips so you unclip move it forward reclip.

I've had the starting issue, gas gauge goes crazy after it drops around 1/4 of a tank, cruise control went out, and glass scratching.
