I'll ask him about the rears too.. Keep in mind these are only for brackets to allow you to bolt on those brake systems. The 14" has 6-pistons!

Don't get me wrong, the corvette conversion is sweet but why on an Alero? Its not a high powered supercar or anythin. Stock brakes work fine. Save yourself a couple hundred and just get slotted rotors.

I could name two instances last week where my 12" brakes probably kept me from getting in an accident. It was like everyone was turning in front of me for some reason.

Even with the 12" it's a significant upgrade from the stock ones. And that's having almost the lightest weight Alero produced. I could imagine the difference gets bigger with a 3400/auto.

Also, the Corvette brakes are even inadequate for them on the track sometimes. They are also very close to the same dimensions as on a GXP. Even a cobalt can come with 12.4" rotors.

There is also less than 200 lbs difference between the weight of a Corvette and an Alero.

Cliff, would these brackets allow for the 15" brembos to work aswell? Or would that require different brackets?

Less than that if you are a thrifty shopper.

Couple thousand so I could do some more engine mods and make the brakes worth it.

In theory yeah, as long as it bolts up the same way as the others.. But that seems like a little overkill. Not to mention you'd need to be running 19" wheels for that.

thats why moder would need biger brakes,my opinion is if you wanna boost your car,the rest must follow,a 300 hp car from the factory will be equiped with performance brakes, and its not only for the technical point, its also for the look,i think corvette brakes with nice rims look awesome on an alero,me ill invest a lil more to brake more and it will be the bigest part of the look!

sorry for skimming, but what are the largest brakes we can fit under our stock 16 inch wheels?

well, considering the 15" steelies are the smallest wheels we can have with stock brakes, whatever stock +1 inch is the biggest for the 16s.

12" is a snug fit.. The *general* rule of thumb is that your wheel diameter should be 4 inches larger than your rotor diameter.

You're not going any faster than the legal limit, you're just accelerating to it quicker. I hate it when people think like that. What, you want hardcore brakes so you can stop in ___ feet after going 150 MPH? No, you want better brakes so you can stop in the shortest distance possible to avoid anything at any speed.

Well, this isn't always the case, most people upgrade to larger brakes so they have an advantage when they do things like autocross and go to tracks.

You missed my point completely. No shit on the autocross and heavy duty racing braking.

You have an advantage everywhere on the street in NORMAL driving... people always say "make sure you get some better brakes for all that power" when someone does something to their powertrain... but brakes help no matter what and you don't need better brakes just because your car can accelerate faster. As long as you don't go any faster than you normally do, the braking doesn't change whatsoever.
