I just went shopping today for some boom in my trunk, I bought a 12 inch sony xplode subwoofer, u know the red one. haha. but I also bought a band pass box with the plexi glass stuff. I think it was a good deal, but I wanted to know, Is this a good set up, I know it is just 1 subwoofer, what kind of amp would i need? Do these subs sound good, and will they sound better or worse with the band pass box thingy. let me know.

that subs ok, not the highest quality but its ok......as far as the band pass box some people like em some like sealed.....just depends on the person......so i say hook it up listen to it, if you dont like it try a sealed box......

as far as the amp jackal recommended if you push that sub with that amp the sub name will definately apply cuz thats a way overkill for that sub.....id say a 200watt rms amp x 1 will work good, if you wanna go up to 250 go ahead but those subs arent known for power handling.....

jackal are you running all three off that one amp? He is only going to be running that one sub of the amp so it probably is overkill. Of course its always better to run too much power then too little ive always heard.

I used to have 3 10" Sony Xplods and I thought they were great. Sounded good and lasted me awhile. One of them finally blew about 3 weeks ago and another was getting there so I finally upgraded to Fosgate subs but you should be pleased with it.

for 5 years i have only been using xplod products. My first set of 12's lasted until the other day. Now I have the ones in the picture above. I like them. Affordable yet still sound good....

I've got 2 P5 12" 's in my Alero right now. Truthfully, i really like them, especially when you take into account the price i paid, which was like 60 a peice. You can find them for real deals on the internet when you look. I'm pushing it with a sony 1000 watt amp and its fine, has no problems. And i rarely ever have problems with running my battery down, although i very rarely ever really slam the bass at night with the lights on too. But all in all, for the money, i'd definately go with them. They dont have a huge magnet structure, but i thing the rigidity of the cone makes up for it. And i personally have mine in a sealed box, and i think it sounds nice. My deck is also a pioneer DEH-7700MP with the high voltage pre-amp outputs, so that adds a little base to the total system. A work of advice on the Sony amp however, I've had mine for about a year now and just last month the anti-thump circuitry fried so now im getting that annoying thump every time i turn on my car/deck.

I gave my sony explode like the one above to my sister...I don't think they are very well constructed subs. For 103 bucks I paid for that I could have gotten to 12" powerbase subs when they first came out which are great....now they are getting up there in price...Glad I got mine before they became kinda popular.
