yeah dude,

I payed about $40.00 bucks at a muffler shop.

They removed the cat, and welded flanges to the cat and the straight pipe, as well as the opening in the exhaust.

they couldnt install the straight pipe, but as soon as I took it home, I removed the cat, and bolted the straight pipe to the new flanges in the exhaust.

Hoo doggy, Not much noticable gain, but it finally sounds like I thought my BORLA should sound like.

Hollowing out or Putting a strait Pipe that looks like a cat is so frigin Illegal, you can get so many tickets for it and who ever does it for you is risking loosing there business. Plus when your car gets inspected and they plug it in to the computer to check to make sure your cat is working and all emmissions are in the PASS range, and if it isnt all in the PASS range guess what your car doesnt get inpsected till it gets fixed. I think it is 100% RETARED and if you do it your just asking to get in trouble.

He in Philly if you have no CAT the car won't pass emissions, as part of Northeast Emissions, but you can do a high flow but don't go too big. It will rob HP instead of gaining it.

20 to 30 HP from hollowing a cat is BS. In fact, even if you remove a cat those numbers are BS. The guy either doesn't know what he talking about or he's trying to rip you off.

Just look at the numbers. A SPL or a Borla cat back will add only about 11 HP. The only way to get 30 HP out of exhaust is to put on headers too. Then your up around the 30 HP range. But this is all a lot more than $60 too. About $600 for the exhaust and $700 to $800 for the headers.
How will a borla or any other high flow cat get you 11+ hp. The most I read up on was 5 hp from borla, The only way to get more hp is to redo the intake, exhaust, and add boost, which will ran you far more than you are looking to spend so far. And to be honest you can gut the cat out yourself if you know how to weld, but be forewarned, there are laws that prohibit such, so think about that first.
