I've had both and I like my WAI better, it was cheaper, easier to clean, and since most of my driving is in stop and go areas its better for me.

But I liked my CAI too, both gave me better gas mileage. And from what everyone says you will see better gains from the CAI over the WAI. Hope this helps you a little.

CAI does, because cold air is denser, and you get more power from it.

When I took my CAI my filter was soaked, it didn't cause any problems though.

cai's won't suck in water unless you drive through a puddle deep enough to submerge the entire cone in water.

TONS of threads out there, more over at grandamgt.com

CAI - cooler air because of where the filter is located, however the longer tube = more distance for the air to travel

cai argued at better top end power, more air at higher speeds

WAI - Short lengthed tube supposedly will give you quicker air flow, more at low end. You generally get a noticable hiss due to the open sound of the air pulling through. I used to hear it especially when the car jumped into 2nd, sounding like it was spooling heh. However the WAI's no matter how you work em, do have worse heat soak being close to the engine.

There are people out there rigging ways to cover em or direct colder air to a WAI without moving the filter

hope that kinda sorta helps
