Best I ran was a 15.3 at 91mph.

Not too shabby I don't think. I'm pretty sure I can get this sucker down into the 14's for cheap. As of right now, the only performance thing I have on it is an AEM CAI, and a grounded throttle body. The throttle is electronically controlled on this car, no cables whatsoever, and people have noticed better throttle response if they grounded it to something. Mazdaspeed has a "earthing kit" which consists of a ground for this, and upgraded cables for the alternator and what not. I didn't feel like spending $200 on it though, so I spent $3 on a battery cable using my discount at AutoZone and just grounded the throttle body. This was with a full tank of gas too, so, could probably loose a tenth if I ran it near empty. I figure by March I'll have a borla exhast on it, a header, and some other doodads.

Give him a chance! You never know. Until Yesterday the weather in Southern Alberta was perfect for cool weather drag... except there are no 1/4 mile drags around here... which is a shame...

I'll doubt it when I see it, not believe when I see... cause by all means, it does sound quite possible.

I don't know about it being BS, there was one open here until Dec 19th.

15.3, That's pretty good. I drove those in the Mazda Rev It Up event and I didn't think they were that fast. Light as hell though

Track I go went is open every weekend unless its snowing or raining. Its sunny and 66 right now, so think what you want.

I'll get time slips uploaded once I get my desktop fixed. I could take pictures, but no way of uploading since my laptop doesn't have a firewire port, and I don't have a scanner.

Yeah.

Theres some major room for driver improvement though. I need to master launching. I either get off way too slow or I sit in place with the tires spinning.

Maybe once I have another 2k miles under my belt with the car, I'll be good to go. Still feeling it out.

i don't doubt you at all....but I do have to put my 2 cents in.......I raced a mazda 3 last weekend (I live in central IL and it was like 60 degrees here) and we ran and I beat it by about 2 car lengths....I am running somewhere around 15.5. Maybe you have a factory freak, who knows. Either way, good job! Hopefully you'll dip into the 14's

Yeah, we like the cold runs

I got my next mod ready to go in Friday, but it is just struts, so no improvement in 1/4 mile for awhile.

I would love to get a 14 second 4cyl car (pre boost of course)

Did you race an automatic? Did you race one that had the 2.0 motor versus the 2.3?

In theory, I've got the quickest 3 package you can get, 2.3 with a 5 speed.

MAlero, 14 second pre-boost 4 banger car is EASILY obtainable. 13's probably are as well with a little bit of work.

I wonder how much time I can shave off if I go to a lighter wheel, I'm pretty sure my stock 17's are boat anchors. One thing is for sure though, need to get rid of these poopty Goodyear RS-A tires. I think it might be time to go the flix lex route again.

^ Do it! They are soo hawt if I do say so myself

It makes me sad the bold pattern is wrong for my next car. If I was you, I'd go for 18's, thats what I'd get next time

What is the bolt battern on the Cobalt anyways? I thought it would have worked.

Luckily for me, the 3 is 114.3 with the same exact offset as the lex. So no hubcentric rings needed this time.
