Where can i get my car mic'd?
I want to get my car mic'd to see exactly how hard my system is hitting. What would be the easiest/ least expensive way of doing this? I just want a reading so i'm not looking to buy anything big. Any ideas/ suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Call around and ask the shops if they have a Term Lab and ask how much to get metered. Unless its a Term Lab dont bother.

They are junk.
Unless you have a term lab and measurement you get is pretty much useless.

I got one of those db meters from walmart, I broke it, it doesn't read over 120 now, guess I should not have put it into the port.

Like ryan said, if it's not a TL, don't waste your time.
At most shows they will have a "fun run" which is usually like $10 just to see what your car can do.

he wants to know what he is around in the range of decibls, whats wrong w using an audio control?? sure it might be a few dbs off but from the sound of it he isnt tryin to tune his system and see how temperature and or box placement is effecting his spl. and anything u buy local isnt worth shit. it wont read high enough for ur use. look up and see where a local sound competition will be held, they will have a mic and u can enter and have a little fun.

Because its futile. When he pops into different places and says he did a 152 with two 12" Pyles, people are going to call BS. Then its going to get turned into a long dragged out debate where he has to defend the number he seen...
"Well it was an audio control setup"
"Well I dont know the last time its been calibrated"
Basically these mics have lost all credibility unless you are comparing apples to apples. In other words all numbers being compared were pulled off the same mic.

Not even that Ryan. There was a big deal back when the Audiocontrol mic was being used at audio shows. Some people were paying the controller or the mic to turn the sensitivity up on the mic, causing them to have the loudest score.
Thats why with the TL now, once you set the K-Factor, you can not change it in the middle of the show. It is locked in until you start all over.
