I'd stay with the Orion. Rockford kinda went downhill after the old a2 amps.

There's plenty of room. PPI amps are more sound quality oriented.

The Alpine Type-Xs only come in dual 4 Ohm voice coils so you'd benefit better from going with the Orion Amp because it's 1 Ohm stable and you'd have 2500 watts at 1 Ohm. You could use the PPIs but your going to be running a 2 Ohms final load because you going to have one amp connected to one speaker. That would give you 1000 watts to each speaker at 2 Ohms from the PPI amp.

yeah my audio guy loves alpine headunits and speakers but h8's the amps...i was running the orion to them b4 and they pound for blocks but im told the orion H2 subs are a lil bit louder then again i dunno how much louder...and i love the spl and sq the x-types have... i may just do those again well what i was looking at is u can bridge two of the PPI's together and i figured that would give me an extra 500 watts rms....im probably wrong tho lol

When you strap to amps together they usually keep the same power between the 2 but allows you to hook up 2 amps to one speaker terminal going into a box. Take those 2 PPI amps and strap them together your going to get 3000 Watts @ 2 Ohms. Which isn't going to benifit you because 2 dual 4 Ohm sub can be ran at 1 or 4 Ohms. You can run them at 4 Ohms with that amp but then your going to be running 2000 Watts out of the amps. You might be able to run them at 1 Ohm but for how long is anybodys guess. Whereas the Orion has 2500 Watts @ 1 Ohm and the speakers can be matched to 1 Ohm.

I have to agree. If you liked the alpines then stick with them. What is your price range on the amp or amps? I have heard alot of good reviews about the orion but I don't know the suggested price. I assume everything will bought from a shop for warranty reasons. One of my favorite brands for amps is Zapco. They are expensive but well worth the money.
