Beat my record... barely
R/T: .318
60': 2.205
330: 6.229
1/8: 9.586
MPH: 73.82
1000: 12.455
1/4: 14.901
MPH: 92.90
Well I was shooting for 14.8 and missed by .002 it seems. Oh well, beats my previous record of 14.969, but only barely. Really need the air filter cleaned and such, but ran anyway... I was bored :P
I could NOT get traction all night. Ran 15.05 and around there mostly, until i broke down and did a massive burnout (sorry my poor tires) to heat them up enough to not spin through 1st. The best time above was run with traction control off, and in Drive.

I personally dont think Drive and 3rd have any difference in the 1/4. My car shifts the same no matter which one its in, all it does in 3rd is prevent it from going to 4th.... and under 120 mph that aint happening lol.
Oh and about my ridiculous times.. 1) It is cecil county dragway (known to be a faster track) 2) my car is somewhat of a factory freak 3) I do have a PCM too lol 4) I think the guy who fixed up my car before selling it may have done some work to it that I dont know about it, he was a literal drag racer... like those long cars [forget names] that do the 1/4 in 7 seconds or whatever. Yeah... he was crazy.

Also for Redog: Dont feel so bad about not being able to meet at cecil. They actually closed the track that night because of impending rain. I drove by there but missed it because it was pitch black. On the way back I was met by a closed fence.
Also, as i was driving back from the track this time, there was a totaled 5.0 mustang that drove into a fence / line of trees. Was surrounded by cops and stuff but no ambulance. Thats what you get for being an idiot lol

IDK about doing slicks on the Alero.
First off, unless your running DOT slicks, it does bump you into a different class and second IDK if the axles can handle that kind of hook-up
I did see that the rain came in from the south, so I guess that was OK. I'll get down there soon enough
Does the car shift into 4th before crossing the finish line? I hit somewhere around the 4500 mark when crossing

My cars never made it outta 3rd on the track, i usually go through the line around 92 mph at like 4250 rpms or around there. Any idea where 3rd even ends ? I thought it was somewhere around 120mph.

yep, that's why you remove it
i forgot about all the gear information and speeds. i looked it up and calculated it once and it's been quite accurate in the gears/speeds i've achieved. i remember first is around 45. and the top speed is like 187 gear limited

as far as the pcm is involved, it will never shift out of 3rd at WOT. stock settings are 256mph or 8191rpm. good luck reaching that ever, much less in the 1/4 mile.

^Really? So if your car goes too fast without a retune, you'll end up bouncing off the limiter rather than do a 3-4 shift? I heard some with removed speed limiters got around 140MPH in their Aleros..
Here's the calculator I messed around with:

Not in the 1/4.
Realize that 108 MPH in the 1/4 in low 13's high 12's, unless your boosted in some way, you're not hitting that, and if you are boosted, you need a reprogramed PCM anyway to deal with the fuel curves and such.
187 top speed huh? I heard the rumored top speed of the GAGT was around 153 and the Alero was in the 160 area, due the the Alero's talled final drive gear. Of course it would take a very long time to get there
HA HA my parent's old Cavy's top speed was only 75, I was driving it home from the mountains and that's the fastest is would go. I had to be in the slow lane.

That's if there was no such thing as wind resistance, then it would go 187 and be limited by the gears. I'm sure the actual top speed would be drag limited a lot lower than 187, probably, like you mentioned, in the 150-160mph range, unless you were pushing a lot of power.
