Probably be a shop thing, then. Not really crazy about spending $300+ for something I may only need to use once or twice.
Unless I can find one used cheaper.

It will be money well spent. Any modification you make will benefit from tuning and it'll take you years to fully learn the program. MMGT1 (Paul) is in my opinion the resident god on that program for tuning. He has spent probably 15 years learning and with the new technology there are still things he's learning... definitely not a single use product if you're serious about modding... plus if you get good at it you could use it to tune other people's cars and have a descent side job lol

Of course, if I had lottery winnings, I would take it to a shop with a supercharger and say "build it up, and make it work".
But on a serious note, maybe when tax time next year comes, I'll get a tuner then. Tuning other peoples' cars on the side could pay for the unit after a while.
Next tax year, I'll do a rebuild and do the ported LX9 top swap then, since the engine will be apart anyway. I plan to get the transmission rebuilt as well.

I paid 400 for hptuners.
I used it all last summer when I got it. Mmgt1 has been doing a tune for me. Still not finished. Waiting for winter weather to clear up. Car was stored all winter so tuning has had to come to a hault while I did a bunch of maintenance over winter. Car runs now but still not the best weather yet to get another scan to him. And I got 2 more things to fix before I want to finish the tune.
Car radiator just pooped itself yesterday. And I need a new muffler put on. So once that stuff is knocked out and I got free time. The tune will finally be finished. We are pretty close to being done. But I only know likr 1% of things to do for tuning... so paul is my boss for that haha.

Did you send it off to him, or is he giving you directions?
Looks like I have a plan. I could always just get the heads from an LX9 out of the junkyard. Same with the LIM, same with the plenum. Main thing I'll need to get new would be a throttle body adapter for the LX9 plenum. I can get the heads resurfaced and magnafluxed, then ported. Also get the plenum ported. May even pluck exhaust manifolds to get them ported by Milzy. I'm guessing the LX9 exhaust manifolds will fit the LA1?
If not, I can just get the LA1 exhaust mainfolds from a junker and get them ported. That way, I can just get everything else and put the swap in on the rebuild.

Found a way to eventually swap with a s/c L67.
In here. That takes care of the transmission. Then I could get the motor. But for now, I'll just top swap.
