nitrous question.....

so i think im gonna get this nos kit that is pretty much a steal and dont want to pass it up... ive got NGK TR-55's in my 01 v6 alero. will i have to run a colder plug? or will it be ok with what i have? my buddy says i might need to run Tr-6 NGK plugs. but i just wanna make sure on here what you guys say.

or anyone here have a recommendation on which specific plug i should use with the kit?

thanks guys

(i might have more questions. lol)

Your stock spark plugs will burn "WAY" too hot you need 2 steps colder... Such as NGK BKR7E

Also get a msd rpm activated window switch so you cant hit it under 3k rpms

Good luck to your transmission our trannys were not exactly designed for that much instant torque.

I research everything before I buy it.. No offense man but if your asking questions about spark plugs your nowhere near ready. Buy it now research for next 5 months

Q: Do I have to change my spark plugs after installing the nitrous system?
A: YES, Due to the increase in horsepower the nitrous system creates, the quantity of heat generated in the combustion chamber goes up. It is required that you install spark plugs that have at least two steps colder heat range. This helps to ensure detonation free performance when using the nitrous system. ZEX™ has nitrous specific spark plugs available for many makes and models of vehicles.

im gonna tune the transmission here soon. and i understand the plugs getting too hot.

i rather not use the rpm switch. i am just planning on tapping it into the tps wire so it comes on at WOT. thats what we did for my buddies gf's tiburon. worked fine. no one on grandamgt has had problems that i have seen.

Use Autolite 104. Gap them at 50 thou
3400's dont like NGK and I would seriously advise you dont use them. When you tune it for NOS aim for 12.4 AFR as well. Go into your temp table and pull 4* of timing in your -25 and under table. Make sure you have the needle installed before the intake temp sensor so when the nitrous hits the PCM will pull that 4* when WOT. Just a couple of things to look for. You will want to make some serious changes to your trans tune as well or you will kill that trans pretty quick. As I have said many times, the 4t45e can take a freakin pounding, it just needs to be set up right.
You should look into installing a polly trans mount as part of the install as well. Milzy has a freakin sweet one that Ive been using for 6 seasons now and its still mint!
And ZEX is the shit, I would use nothing but if I was to run NOS again!

Yea, Ill help man. And NGK's here at the dealership have caused all kinds of issues for the mechanics and when they find NGK in a GM, after they swear a lot and freak out, they get changed to the proper delco ones. I use Autolite 104's in mine and they work just fine. So, I know the Autolights are a good replacment for those

Yes they do for some, but those are made to GM Engineers specs, very different. Those you will not get from an NGK package

Well before you worry about spark plugs you need to figure out what your going to do for fuel either turn it into a wet kit or get a little bigger injectors and tune it. Id turn it into a wet kit if i was you if this is going to be your DD cause you will have alot less to worry about.

right on, and are autolite 104s a step colder from stock?

how would i change it from a dry to a wet kit? we put it in a tiburon with a dry kit once and it did fine, no problems at all and stock injectors and stock tune.
