my brakes

My front brake pads are directly on my rotor and are slowing me down real bad when i drove this morning...this is about half of my brake pad left on both...what's my problem how do i solve it?

That could alot of things.. Stuck calipers, Rod failure in booster. First just try and lube the caliper slides

this is my buddies 99' mercury cougar by the way, i took his wheels off and hit his calipers with a hammer to knock all the rust off...i sprayed the shit out of the caliper with wd-40. Didnt work the pad is still directly on his rotor

You need to be posting on a ford forum, not an alero forum, if you want real help.


Based on my limited knowledge about fords, you need to replace the calipers.

Calipers, take the calipers and press the piston in, see if it binds at all. Use a piston press, I have never use a c clamp, they are only like 5$.

take the calipers apart like you were gonna replace pads, and lube the slide post things. that might help, just randomly spraying wd-40 won't usually.
