high compression 3400 build

so,for those who dont know this isnt my first rodeo. my mods list includes:
old 1393(stage 2) cam
3500 heads
comp 986's
ls lifter springs
s&s
cai
65mm tb
2.5 custom header back
comp ported manifolds
tune
28 lb injectors
tce afpr

to add to the madness ive ordered:
dohc pistons
head studs
stock conrods
cometic 3400 head gaskets, compressed thickness of .075 to yield 11.6:1. more parts are to be ordered.
probably p series rod bearing
pre 00 timing set.
new crank cuz the snout on mine is stripped
maybe arp rod bolts
maybe arp main studs

i need advice on the last two.

I'm not bothering with main studs.....my static compression won't be as high as yours, but I've got a decently larger cam. Even still, I think main studs are overkill unless spinning to 8K RPM or above.
The rod bolts are worthwhile though.

ben said the same thing. its really cheap insurance. and the powerband of the cam peaks at 6500 and i dont even rev that high so i think ill pass on the main studs

On his old 1393 grind? Not necessary, although cryo-treating the 94-99 timing set would be worthwhile.
I will be using (and have) the TCE DR timing set.

I've used http://www.300below.com/ before. Their prices for doing brake rotors was reasonable and turn-around was quick. You can probably find a more local place if you look around.

What is the advantage to using DOHC pistons over Diamond Forged SOHC version?

price really. im not increasing combustion chamber pressures enough to worry about popping a piston so the extra strength isnt needed. and with a specific combo of parts, desired compression can be achieved. i got these for 130 shipped with wrist pins.

What CR are you looking at? How are you going to get there? DOHC pistion will work in a SOHC 3400 V6?

Ken, old buddy.......the 3400 is an OHV (overhead valve) motor, not a SOHC (single over-head cam) motor.
And he's looking ~11.6:1 with the DOHC pistons, 3500 heads and .075" head gaskets.

I never knew the 3.4 dohc pistons were the same diameter as the 3400s I am intrigued. I wonder how tight the quench will be with those pistons and hg. Also any serious head work/bowl work?

Also I would reccomend deburring those valve reliefs it can help prevent predet.

Yeah I knew that. I was just blinded by the excitment of another option for an engine build.
And of course
