I'll check it out at home then. I'm at work too so it wont open.

Checked it out and yeah pretty raspy.
I'm not sure how close the Cobalt engine is to ours but a guy did a pacesetter clip and did a before and after of the resanator he put on. It sounds pretty good IMO with the resonator on.

Yuck. That exhaust sounds terrible. Might as well just cut off the stock muffler and leave it.

The Ecotec engine is completely different from the LD9 so the sound will be different. You can't really take a different engine's sound and compare to what yours may sound like

Oh I thought the cobalt had a 2.4, I didn't research it though obviously just guessing haha.

Sucks though I mean that's one of the very few pre-made cat backs for it.
I still think with a resonator it wouldn't sound too bad, I just am kinda weary of even trying it though watching that video.

You'd be better off getting an exhaust fabbed up at a shop and you can use any resonator/muffler combination you want with any size pipe you want.

What would you suggest for something that isn't muscle car deep and isn't too annoyingly loud.

High flow cat > Long resonator > Magnaflow or Vibrant straight through muffler - all 2.5" piping

who sells resonators?

magnaflow or flowmaster?

and another question,

what exactly is a glasspack? I heard they make exhausts sound better, but I haven't heard of one being used on an I4

and who sells those too?

I still don't know what they are...

they just seem like longer resonators...

does anyone else sell them?
how much do they cost?
and are they worth it?

I've heard that glass packs can get worn out pretty fast though?
Dunno if it's actually true just heard that.

Can't you just replace the resonator with a pipe?

Yeah a lot of people take the resonator out who want louder and hopefully better sound.

Vibrant and Dynomax have good resonators. Here's a couple links:

Dynomax: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Vibrant: http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/...d/Resonators_2

A resonator and a glasspack are the same thing. It's just a small muffler before the main muffler that helps keep the exhaust quieter. The term glasspack was used more by all the old school hot rodders.

The term "glass pack muffler" is a shortened form of "fiberglass packed muffler" where fiberglass strands are packed in between the inner & outer shells to muffle the exhuast sound. The inner shell is preforated with holes or slots. A resonator serves the same function.
