My Buddy used to work at a stealership.
They spray it down with acid with the engine running, then rinse it off with a hose.

If you don't know what you're doing, be sure to only use a hose with no sprayer (ie low pressure). Get it wet, spray some simple green (or whatever), scrub it a little, and then just rinse. When you blast it is when you force water places it shouldn't be.

lol when you cover the WAI, be sure to take the plastic bag off after, i found that leaving it on and starting the car makes a bit of an intimidating sound haha, no damage done but it was funny as shit though....this was years ago mind ya

The only product I have used was Simple Green. Worked wonders.
Sprayed it with the green, waited about 10 minutes, then washed it off.

Oh ya, major distance my car was like a flood victim. Simple green is amazing once again. The only part i needed to scrub a little was where the oil cap was.
