Alero throwing codes

Been a while since I've posted. But I was hoping someone would be able to help me out. I'm helping out a friend with their 99 alero v6. Anyways the CEL keeps coming on. I got a scanner and it's saying P0113 Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what I would need to do to fix this. The car seems to be driving just fine.

Thanks for the help. Where is the IAT sensor located?

It's pressed in the intake tube... Do you happen to have a scan-tool that can read your IAT temperature?

That I do. When I ran it it was about -4C outside and the readings were coming through as -41C. Is that the actual temperature it was reading? Or is that a difference from one part of the engine to another?

No, that IAT reading definitely shouldn't be below ambient temperature.

Unplug the IAT and jumper the two wires together and see if you get a reading of over 130°C.

Well I changed the IAT and now the temperature is back down to a healthy -29C (that's actually pretty close to the temperature outside right now).

Thanks again for the help and Merry Christmas.
