Sup everyone. Need some advice from the experts.

Right now my performace mods include, a CAI, 8mm wires and new plugs. And also the powerstat thermo.

My question is this. What would be the next best upgrade to better my low end. I know an new exhaust would be good, but I don't really have the money for that right now. A new TB? Pro-m MAF? Ported UIM/LIM? I'm looking at a max price range of $350-$400.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, with the CIA, you have all ready taken away from low end torque, and by going to a lower restriction exhause you are going to take even more low end away. So to get that low end back, it is going to cost more than that. There are a few ways for low end, 1) choke the motor up, (exhaust back pressure, restricted intake, but these hampers top end), 2) forced induction (supercharger not turbo), 3) stroke the motor ( well that is an increase in displacement and a stroked motor won't rev as high without serious beefing up of the lower end).

Well most of the breating mods you do will take away from low end torque, Exhaust, headers, Intake... Higher flowing Exhaust will take away more low end torque, its kind of a trade off. Increasing compression really reaises low end Torque, but thats out of your price range, so thats not much of an option.

Hmm....thanks guys. There's not many local shops around where I'm at that do custom muffler work...but I'll have to check that. I guess another thing is I'm not real keen on that loud high flow exhaust sound at idle. I don't know if a custom exhaust would be able to silience that?? Only want the growl when I step on it.

As far as the TB and/or Pro-m MAF, what kind of increase would that give me with either one?

Thanks again.

Is that the same exhaust they have been advertising on tv? If you have pics, yeah I'd like to see em.

i paid $150 canadian for my muffler, and $70 to get a pipe bent and the muffler installed. mines low and rumbly, and i have an optional silencer i can put in or out. i guess the shape of the baffles in the muffler itself control the sound, as well as the size of the exhaust tip. Just make sure you let them know what kind of sound you're looking for otherwise you'll end up with a ricer.

That's exactly what I'm looking for in an exhaust system. Where did you get the silencer and about how much?

do u want a muscle sound or a rice sound? If you want muscle, go w/ a Flowmaster 80-series muffler (approx. $75) then take it to a Meineke (if possible) and they will custom bend some pipe and put it on for like $80...that's using you stock pipe between your cat and ur muffler. For like $150 they will put in all new stainless 2-1/2" pipe w/o a resonator from the cat back and it will sound deep as hell (for a V6) and growl like a little Camaro. I love mine so much. Then maybe add about $50-$100 more for some nice stainless steel tips. If you want rice..then put any fart-can on it..idk why you'd wanna do this but its ur call. Your car, don't let anyone influence what you wanna do w/ it (including me).

I don't know how far you are from the canadian border, but i bought mine at a store called automotive warehouse, which is about 20min from the niagara falls or queenston lewiston border. They really know what their mufflers sound like, and with the american exchange rate it might be worth your while to come over here (possibly during the niagara falls alero meet we're having on the 25thand 26th) to buy it! I'm not sure what brand mine is, but it came with the silencer that you can put in or out with just 2 screws, and you can cut the silencer pipe as well to get exactly the sound your looking for. Also i think theres a thread started that has various exhaust sound clips attached to it, you might wanna check that out before investing your money in something more expensive.

i got a flowmaster 80 put on mine and it sounds awsome, the tips i had put on were about 40 a piece and the way they had to put it on really restricts the flow, so its added alot of low end(well for an exhaust anyway) and it just sounds simply awsome, it is loud and smooth, but doesnt sound choppy like a truck with straights, its awsome, ill get picks soon and put them on here
