I was roaming this site, i've done various mods thanks to you all, but I mostly want to have a CAI system in my car, and I was looking in alerospeed.com and saw that a system sells for 179.00 I was wondering, does a CAI system make a sort of "sucking" sound? I dunno if anyone know what i'm talking about, but when the car shifts, it "sucks" i just wanna know if a CAI system does that

your car makes a sucking sound when it shifts? or you've heard a car making a sucking sound?
maybe the car just sucks?
:P if its a different car, maybe its turbo charged, and its the BOV purging (sounds more like a pshhhhh)
my cai doesn't make a sucking sound, but it is louder. especially at redine, its really loud. in my opinion, a cai just makes your engine louder. (it does help performance and mileage too).

mine makes the sucking sound, and whistles like a BOV on some shifts... all depends on rpm and stuff.... but yes, a cai/wai will give you a sucking sound.

I have a CAI for my 2.4 from Induction Dynamics, and I've never heard the sucking or the whistling sound what so ever. In fact I used to notice the sucking noise on WOT & upshifts with the stock airbox and I can't hear that anymore...

not sure if you will get that from an intake alone
the aftermarket throttle bodies I delt with were what made a whistle or sucking noise

You might want to hold off before ordering from alerospeed.com. Dr. Kyle (the guy who runs it) has sort of disappeared and hasn't posted on grandamgt.com since the summer time. He was very reliable in the past, but I would consider looking at other options untill he returns and/or is heard from again.

I just got my DR.Speed CAI 2 months ago, but only installed it recently. I have it setup as a WAI right now, and I can clearly hear the "sucking" sound your asking about. when you release the throttle it does kinda sound like a BOV but its not very pronounced. And like the others said at about 3500 and up it really starts to sound good. gives a much more deep aggressive sound than the stock air box. as for milage, I havent noticed much of an imporvment yet, but its no worse than stock. concerning increased power, it kinda feels like you have a little more low end torque, in a WAI setup atleast.
Id take nicks advice, and maybe contact Kyle before you order so you know he is around and expecting your order. I will say that after placing my order I emailed him a few times but got no response other than generic confromation emails about recipt of payment and shipping details. he does provide a tracking number though.
just my 2cents

i think it may have a difference between what engine you have, like the way the engine is set up matters on if you can hear the3 sucking sound, and since in the 3400 the intake goes right in front of the driver then it might be easier to hear
