Hi gang,

Trying to troubleshoot my GF's 2000 Alero. She is having the same issue: the servie engine, traction off, and abs lights all come on at the same time.

Done lots of searching over here and at oldsmobileforums.com. It appears it's a sensor issue (either bad or dirty from brake dust... brakes are another issue on these cars it appears), a bearing, or wheel hub issue.

So what exaclty is the wheel hub? Is this an easy DIY job? We need to drive this car 2000 miles in a few weeks, and we don't need it stranding us I can't physically inspect the car for another week, so what advice can you give me to tell her? Is this something expensive to replace?

How can we determine if it's a wheel bearing, hub, or sensor? I had her take it to AutoZone and they could not pull up any codes.

Thanks,

Eric
