I've always used just regular Turtle Wax but with soo many new brands out there, I thought I might try something new. So.. what is everyone's favorite car wax? Anyone tried the spray on/wipe off stuff? Like it or no?

spray on, wipe off stuff isn't that great...went that route before...its good for a quick shine though.
I use Mequires Tech Wax...its decent...in fact I think the best stuff I've used thus far.

I'll never use spray on wax again. I bought some Turtle Wax spray on today and used it. That stuff is a PITA to get it all completley wiped off and it leaves all these swirl marks, kinda like it's not all off or something. It shines really good now but just not as good as it would if I had used the regular wax. I'll post some pics later tonight.

I agree with the Meguiars gold class comments... that stuff is the best. The last time I did my car I used blue coral wax, but it didn't come out all that great. I'm gonna clay bar my car and maybe try Zaino this time. Either that or just stick with Meguiars.

I'm listening too. I keep hearing about it on here but I've never seen anything that seems like it would be this...

I usually use Zymöl, however i do have some "Best of Show" wax from Griot's Garage that is supposed to be good, and will be the first coat to go on the car.

I used Meguiar's cleaner wax, and was impressed. Tried others, but I'm gonna stick with them from now on.

Clay bar is made by Mothers.... basically, you spray a lubricant (chuckle chuckle) on the car, and then rub a clay bar on the surface of the car. The clay picks up all the deposits, wax residue, road tar, sap, and other stuff that sticks to your cars' paint. It basically srips everything off your paint (so if you have touchup paint, or "chip filler" in your paint, get ready to do it again).... then you put down a coat of your favorite wax on top of the real clearcoat (you aren't putting a layer of wax on top of layers of 20 other waxes.
However, if you have swirl marks and chips, and are using a wax or compound to fill them in, the clay bar will remove it, so you'll have to re-apply the chip filler and/or swirl wax/compound.

^^^ya, u can get a clay bar kit virtually anywhere. And Mothers is not the only ones that supply them. Meguires makes a kit, as well as others. But what Naich stated above is how it works in a nutshell.

Well, I guess I won't be doing that any time soon... Half my car is covered with scratches, chips and poop. I'd spend a month fixin em all again. I gues I'll just deal until I can get it painted.

i'm using some 3m "diamond hard shine" stuff. just did it today and it works good. but this is only my second car (first one i didn't like and didn't take care of) so i'm a total noob when it comes to wax.
i gotta try a clay bar, and get some touch up paint. i got a bunch of crap in my undercoat of wax...
