Frostbite ran a 14.9 with only a CAI, exhaust, and this.
Granted it was like 20 degrees out or something.

^ he's wondering if he will lose the custom tune if his battery dies.
i'm pretty sure you won't, it would have to be stone dead for a while before i'd worry

Hey hey hey now, it was totally like 35 degrees that day :P I later ran a 14.901 once I launched right, at around 50 degrees.
Yes, the PCM works, yes its awesome, and I think it dropped around .15 off my 1/4 mile time. My car is something of a freak, but I can attest to it working. Your battery dying wont affect the tune, but if you disconnected the battery for a while, the car would need to "relearn" the shift points over the next like 50 miles you drive, within which it will figure out how you drive, and shift funky for a while.

so this is literally buy new pcm, disconnect old pcm, and put in new pcm. that it nothing else? no special tunning or special programing? if its that easy and cheap why doesnt everyone buy one? it sounds like one of the greatest mods for the buck?

You are correct on all counts. One of the best and most satisfying mods available for these cars short of a power adder.

FYI
DHP is no longer in business. But this is a fairly harmless mod in this form and shouldn't need them for any support.

It's a great mod, but you should have a 180* theromstat in place since the PCM runs the fans at a lower temp.
I have one, but in the future I'm planning on a cam upgrade, so I'll need a newer one to support that

Cause the average person does not want to put 91 octane fuel in an alero plus if there were no govenor they would need to equip the car with better tires than the crappy RS-A's that come on them.
