I'll do another vote towards the single turbo. Although it would be pretty awesome to see a TT Alero, I feel like it'll be more beneficial to build just one.

Are you wanting this to be street-driven, and what kind of emissions testing do you have in your area?

At this point, I can't visualize it being made to look good in the engine bay. The twin turbos I have seen that look awesome usually have symmetrical placement, 2 of everything..... if you are going to dump it into one exhaust pipe anyway, you'd do better with a higher-tech single unit.

But like I always say, relocate the battery and cut out the fenderwell to prove you're serious, then get back to us

I love originality, but it's alway expensive to be the first to do something... believe me, but if you got the skills, time and money to do it.... GO FOR IT

With that said I still agree with the others, one single dual ball bearing gt30/35 series should give same results than twin gt 25/28 ( and you'll save about 2000$ because you only have to buy one turbo, a lot less piping to do, oil line, coolant line, etc... and with the power it'll produce, you won't even feel (lag) 500-800 more rpm to full boost

Believe me guys i know theres a ton of work and im not looking for overall performance even though it would be nice ;D just to be unique i have time and i will have enough money to start the build this summer. I hear what you guys are saying with the single but first im going to see what im going to do in the engine bay to fit a TT in there if by the time im starting and i don't think its gonna happen then i will do the single turbo

what about a remote mount setup? for tuning, why can't someone just buck up and go stand alone?

Because nobody has had a build extreme enough to warrant it.

If you relocate the fusebox under the passenger dash the batter to the trunk and the brake master cylinder to under the passenger dash you would have plenty of room

You can get most of the stuff for that on chasebays.com

haven't read all, but what about 2 Smart car turbos?
they are the size of a cigarette package and can provide some good boost.
One turbo for each bank, both spinning with way above 10k rpm. Might wanna consider.

Just as a reminder from an engineer, build a good package in its whole, look out that everything fits the other parts. This will get you way more than anything else slapped together.

Might wanna consider a 2Stage Turbo - maybe some of the BorgWarner BMW stuff. They might just fit between the cylinder banks, that would make some seriously fast spool up.

my vote is go single turbo, and use the money you would have used on the 2nd turbo, fab, ect to build that transmission, trust me, you're going to need it.

That's what I was thinking when I put up my post. I've seen turbos for a .7-1.4 liter engine and they are very very very small. I'd probably want to go a little bit bigger than twins that can only handle 2.8 liters put together, since we are talking 3.4 liters here, but that would be a good way to start.

IDK if it would fit the 99+ LA1 lower manifold, but I have seen a UIM which converts to a carb set-up. Don't know if it's the best way, but tuning 2 turbos has to be a bitch

Just to inform people here... normal turbo spool speed is between 100 000 and 150 000 rpm...

dang I missed a 0 -- ok, have to look into it once more, cause I know that these small turbos spin like hell.

Ahhh I hate german manufacturers, you can't find solid info as easy as with americans
