Cool Alero Exhaust???

What size of pipe does the stock Alero exhaust use. I want to run either 2.25 in and 2.25 out for tips or 2.5 in and 2.5 out for tips. I cant decide between maganflow or flowmaster for the muffler. I want to get a muffler with one pipe in, and two pipes out for dual tips.

I measured my stock tips and they are 2 inch diamter, so should I run 2.5 or 2.25 in your guys opinions for tip diameter thanks a lot!!!!

Also... I want to cut the bumber.....but I am not shure how....probablly look like crap if I do it!!!

THANKS A TON....I KNOW A LOT OF QUESTIONS BUT NEED HELP!!!

My car 02 GLS COUPE 3.4

stock piping i believe is 2.25 inches........magnaflow or flowmaster both good brands, different people are going to tell you good and bad on each......just depends on the sound you want.....and as far as wanting dual tips, you want them on each side of the bumper or just maybe 2 on one side......if you want it on each side of the bumper you will have to cut the bumper. do a search i know people have cut it themselves and its come out just fine.......

hope that helps

Thanks a lot, I figured the Alero stock pipping was either 2 or 2.5 inches in diameter! Now I just need to figure out how to cut my bumper, or have a shop do it because I want dual tips on each side!

What do most people run for tip size 2.25 or 2.5?????

I'm running the SLP set up which is 2.5" headers back, if you do anything with the stock cat, you'll need the O2 simulator sold on PFYC.com.

Want dual exits? OK go with the Flowmaster 80. It's called "Camaro" style. Single in dual outs. I had that done before the SLP. Flowmaster and Magaflow are made by the same company, it's just that Magaflow isn't a camber muffler like Flowmasters are. Magaflow, I think, is made like a rice muffler. Straight thru with fliberglass packing inside, but I've heard they stand up pretty good.

Bumper cut? You have 2 options. You could get a bodykit, or just the rear bumper cover from a body kit and have that installed, or what I did, I took the car to a good body shop and had the bumper cut out by them. Yes to could do it yourself, but what they did at the shop was take an exhasut cutout from an old GM bumper, cut out a space, and blended a stock cutout in there.

It did cost about $400, but it's well worth it. I've had GM dealerships ask me where I bought my car, and what option did I get to has the rear cut out like that

This is a very old pic

So the new pics you have up are also 2.5 inch dual tips....looks really good! So I am thinking flowmaster 80 muff....with either 2.25 inch tips or 2.5!

I checked Flowmasters website for the 80 series and they only have 2 pipes in, one out! Unless I am looking at it wrong I dont see one pipe in....2 pipes out?

No that's right, but your looking at it wrong.

The "in" pipe is the one on top, and the 2 "outs" are on the bottom. The out pipes, there is one on each side of the muffler.

Both the new and old pics are 2.5 in exhaust. The old one is just pre SLP and old tips
