Engine build

So i want to build up my engine but people keep talking down the Alero telling me it's a waste of time ):! But i say Screw them! I have had a bit of help from Shiwnath in a previous forum but now im really serious about this and need as much help as i can get! I'm wanting to order my CAI tomorrow as soon as i deposit my check. I am also wanting to get the Stage 3 performance kit for WOT-Tech and wonder if i need the HD tranny? Anyway help me out!

well depends if you want to boost or not. how much power are u looking to have. Also do you have a big budget to buy all of this stuff because it can add up quickly. you are looking to spend more than 3000 just on the engine build. The stage 3 kit does not include pistons ,rods, crankshaft, piston rings, 65MM TB. If you are just going to build the engine and not boost i would say no to the 4t65eHD tranny.

Your stock tranny should be fine for awhile. People don't give the 45 enough credit for what it holds.

I agree with all of this..except holding out on the trans, with the stage 3 kit (even N/A) your still looking at some good power. I would rather upgrade to the 4t65eHD and have a spare sitting or sell my 4t45e instead of smoking the 45..

4t45e was only made to withstand 205 ft lbs. you will be over that.

Start with engine first, you'll find that after all the time you spend learning about things and making it happen, you might not want to do any crazy visual modifications. Need to learn to keep it subtle.

A stage 3 kit should be pretty fun.. Thats what I'm going to be aiming for in Spring/Summer.... Along with a 5 speed swap.

LOL tell that to Ben.. I call it what its called.. All I know is that the Stage number means that it's taken to a whole 'notha level..(usually)

As for which stage you're on? Currently the one where shit keeps breaking :P

Also Hellfire you should look at the 3400/3500 Hybrid package... Cant argue with 3500 cylinder heads.

Exactly why you would want 3500 heads/3500 lower intake mani instead of 3400 heads/3400 intake mani... A Better design for better flow.
