Does anyone know the criteria for which crutchfield determines whether or not a given HU will fit a car?

their "measurements" aren't always accurate. they said the pioneer h.u i have wouldn't fit and it fits alot better then the last i had. (that it said would)

i just use their over priced sight for info and pics. if its a single din, you shouldn't have a problem.

if your really worried, check the depth of the unit.. that would be the only possible problem.

the reason they list some HU's as not fitting is because of depth, we have that plastic bullcrap that everyone cuts out behind the headunit to make it fit......

Thanks. Now I want to buy a Panasonic from Crutchfield, but they won't let me select the free install kit if it won't fit. Any way to get around this?

try using sounddomain on the same reciever, or calling them.

cardomain and sounddomain are the same company (same site actually) but the soundomain version seems better to use for some reason.

or, just don't select your car type. just leave it as "unidentified" and select the stuff you want. it takes more searching, but it can't bitch if it doesn't have a car to match w/.

from crutchfield:

We will definitely still provide you with the free kits and harnesses, the website just does not allow it to be overridden. Please give me a call directly and I will be glad to make sure all of these accessories are added to your order.
