tig welding isn't hard just takes time under the hood. no one can learn to weld from a book.
a good starter welder is the $200 harbor freight tig set up. most people aren't going to be using it for production and its a good welder for the money (I have one , I work with welders everyday at work ) it will you get started . I also have a miller MIG and a lincon stick (jazz box).

I worked at it for like 2 weeks in a welding class once I finished up MIG and SMAW, and it just absolutely wouldn't work for me. I could run good puddles on a flat surface.. bronze colored and uniform width, but once I tried adding filler the process just wouldn't work for me.
but enough of my sad story, lol.
